Napa Valley Winery Bike Tour from Calistoga

Peddle off from Calistoga to the beautiful Wine Country

Peddle off from Calistoga to the beautiful Wine Country

You will meet in Calistoga at 10:00 am, then be fitted on a Marin Hybrid bike along with your helmet, bag, and comfortable gel-seat. Your guide will go over the “Rules of the Road” as well as how to operate the bike.

You’re off at about 10:15 am, and your guide will explain the sights and local wine facts and history as you travel through the quiet country lanes to your first winery stop. After a tour of the grounds, enjoy a tasting of the wine. Then you will move along to the second winery, where often you are able to enjoy a private barrel tasting. Cycle along easy and fairly flat roads to the third winery, where your picturesque picnic spot awaits.

Under the shady oaks you will enjoy a delicious wine country lunch, with a menu that typically includes: Pesto pasta salad, local organic salad greens, fresh baked bread, artisan cheeses, seasonal fruit, and dessert. It's a great stop with time to rest up and enjoy the wonderful views.

After lunch, you will return to your bike, rested and recharged. Continue down the Silverado Trail, framed by the Palisades Mountains on one side and the vines on the other as you head for the next winery. This winery is often called the “Shrine to Wine” for its superb collection of art and antiquities, as well as intriguing architecture and excellent wines. After a wine tasting, you will return to Calistoga, arriving back around 3:30 pm. After returning, your guides will bid you farewell. Experience this fantastic Bike Tour through the gorgeous Napa Valley from Calistoga!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the distance I will ride?
A: Normally you will travel a distance of 15-20 miles. This is spread out over the course of the whole tour, with many stops at wineries in between.

Q: What is the difficulty of the bike tours?
A: The routes are geared towards “Enthusiastic Beginners” and are mainly flat, with only a few bumps here and there. If you want a higher level of difficulty and more miles, and it can be fitted into the day, please request so in the Customer Comments section when booking your reservations.

Q: Are there wine tasting fees and how much do they cost?
A: Recently more and more wineries are charging wine tasting fees. Your guides try to choose wineries that do not charge, but sometimes it is unavoidable. Wine tasting fees vary from $5-10 per person per winery. In most cases if you purchase wine from a winery you are reimbursed the tasting fee.

Q: What is the weather like?
A: Beautiful! It normally does not rain from the beginning of May to the end of October or November. The mornings can be foggy, but not cold. Summer highs vary from the 70's to 90's with low humidity. Tours operate rain or shine because it is usually expected to be sunny.

Q: What should I wear?
A: Wear comfortable, breathing clothes you can ride in. Layers are best as the mornings can be cooler than the rest of the day. Tennis shoes or similar shoes are great. If you decide to wear pants, please be aware that your right leg will need to be rolled up or cinched about the pants leg to make sure the bike chain does not eat your pants. Don’t forget your sunglasses, sun block and camera!

Q: What is for lunch?
A: You will be provided a delicious gourmet Wine Country style picnic. Pasta salad with sun dried tomatoes, pesto and artichoke hearts, tossed green salads with in season vegetables, local artisan cheeses, and fresh baked bread are just a few of the items that are typically served. The menu varies by what is fresh in season locally.

Q: How many people will be on the tour?
A: Group sizes are typically 8 to 10 people, the maximum is always limited to 12 people.

Q: Is there van support for the tour in case I do not want to ride the whole day?
A: Van support is available. On most tours, the group is self-sufficient and van support is not necessary. You may request the support van to follow in the Customer Comments section when booking your reservations.

Q: What type of bike will I be using?
A: You will use hybrid, upright bikes from Marin. Road bikes, mountain bikes, cruisers and tandems are also available – let your guide know if you would prefer to use one of the other bikes. Clip-less pedals are not offered, but you may take the pedals off to attach your own.

Hotel pickup is not included. Price is per person. Please reserve online, or call us toll-free at 888-881-3309.
